As an emerging industry cannabis production and manufacturing presents many safety and health hazards. Oregon OSHA is currently developing policies regarding rules application to this industry. Oregon OSHA offers free and confidential onsite consultation assistance to Oregon employers without Enforcement involvement. Jeff will review the results of several recent Oregon OSHA consultations completed in the cannabis industry. This session will discuss the occupational health and ergonomic hazards associated with cannabis growing, processing and extraction processes. We will review the applicable Oregon OSHA regulatory requirements and best practices to establish for a safe and healthful workplace. We will discuss general OSHA administrative requirements applicable to all facilities. Additionally we review a case study of a butane extraction process including the results of explosive gas testing.
